How to Select the Best Student Loan :-
How to Select the Best Student Loan

As a student, it can be very difficult to decide which lender is good for you and which one lender should be avoided. By following simple tips, you will be able to select the best student loan lender.

Your selection of the lender should be based on the type of loan you want. There are many different loans that come from different loan programs. Therefore, you should have knowledge about these programs in order to choose one that best suits your needs and requirements. You can opt for federal student loans or private loans. The choice is yours. However, your selection process does not end here.

You also need to know what loan fees you will be paying when taking out the loan. Many lenders ask for origination fee to
process the documents and you should find out what this fee is. If you have a good credit rating, it is quite possible that the lender will waive this fee.

Another aspect that you have to pay attention to is the interest rates. Federal loans have a set interest rate, so you do not have to worry about the rate changing. But this is not the case with private loans. Therefore, it is in your best interests to opt for a federal loan.

Find out if the lender has any incentives for borrowers. There are some lenders who reduce the interest rate once several on-time payments are made. Although this may seem inconsequential to you, remember it will make a big difference when you start repaying the loan amount after you graduate.

If you do not have a good credit or have not managed to establish credit, make sure that whoever signs as the co-borrower or co-signor has a good credit history. Usually this person is a family member or a close friend. This way you can be assured of getting a low interest rate and when you start repaying the loan, it will not seem so burdensome and inconvenient.

How to Avoid Student Loans and Debts

Student loans and debts has always been a major problem. And with the current global financial situation, this problem has gone from bad to worse. However, you can avoid the student debt trap by taking a few measures and precautions.

Tips to Avoid Student Loans and Debts:

• Instead of opting for college immediately after high school, take a year off. This practical work experience will benefit you tremendously when you graduate and it will also improve your situation financially. However, make sure that during this period, you stay at home and do not rent your own place.

Try to save around $600 each month so that by the time the year is over, you have a little nest egg to pay for college and other associated costs.

• When you go to college, try staying at home and commuting to your college. This will save you a lot of money when it comes to accommodation and other frivolous expenses.

• Try to sell any unwanted items that you may have collected over the years. This way you can raise some extra money to pay off your student credit card debt. You can either hold a garage sale or use eBay to sell these items.

• As much as possible, avoid taking a student credit card loan. While a credit card is always handy, the temptation to use it outweighs everything else.

The last thing you want is credit card debt or bad credit even before you graduate from college. Instead, opt for a pre-paid card so that you only spend money you have earned.
